For those of us who like to sleep in late – especially on weekends – brunch is our favorite meal. Usually served between 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (give or take an hour or so), brunch combines the best of both breakfast and lunch, plus you don’t have to wake up at the crack of dawn to get a table.
We’ve selected some of our favorite brunch spots below. Enjoy a wonderful meal, then stroll around and see what makes Downtown Napa such a fabulous place to visit.
A WONDERFUL WEEKEND
If you had a busy workweek, the weekend is an especially happy time for you.
A favorite establishment of area residents, Kitchen Door recently moved to First Street Napa and is serving up brunch from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the weekend. The Todd Humphries restaurant offers an assortment of delicious meals, such as a breakfast pizza, lox and latke, eggs benedict and more along with a variety of beverages.
At Napkins Bar & Grill, you can enjoy banana foster french toast, chorizo omelet, citrus habanero organic chicken, shrimp linguine pasta or several other entrees, sandwiches and more from 11 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. on the weekend. Try a Napkins’ brunch bloody mary or mimosa, and make sure to ask for the flavor of the day.
For a true farm-to-table experience, try the weekend brunch from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at The Grove at Copia, the signature restaurant at The Culinary Institute of America in Downtown Napa. Whether you dine outdoors in the garden or in the dining room with views of the kitchens, try delicacies such as deviled eggs carbonara, smoked ham sliders, avocado bruschetta or buttermilk fried quail and rye waffles. The beverages are just as special, with hazel-tinis and sunrise spritzes heading the drink menu.
Mediterranean-style fare is considered among the healthiest food available, so if you’re in the Downtown Napa area on the weekend, make sure to stop by Tarla Mediterranean Grill from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for a fantastic brunch. A mimosa or bloody mary will serve as the perfect complement to such dishes as open-faced crab and eggs, garden omelet or Lebanese french toast, just to name a few.
The Historic Napa Mill is home to Celadon, an award-winning restaurant that serves elevated global comfort food, much to the delight of its patrons. From 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on the weekend, you can start your visit with a bellini, mimosa or bloody mary, then choose from brunch items like braised pork hash, chilaquiles and biscuits and gravy, as well as a host of appetizers and entrees sure to get your day started right.
Be Bubbly now offers Sunday Brunch! Indulge in a tantalizing menu featuring delights like bagel sandwiches, caviar-topped frittatas, and Southern biscuits and gravy crafted by Chef Ariana Sallay. Elevate your meal with a glass of bubbles, a refreshing mimosa, or perhaps a classic Bloody Mary.
Enjoy a delightful brunch at Downtown Joe’s, where a traditional American breakfast special is priced at just $9.95. Savor two eggs, hashbrowns, choice of toast, and a cup of coffee, available from 8 to 11 a.m. For an extra kick, consider pairing it with a boilermaker. Downtown Joe’s offers a satisfying and affordable brunch experience in the heart of downtown.
Sundays are the only day you’ll find brunch served at Waterfront Seafood Grill on the Napa Riverfront, but it’s a truly special day with scrumptious menu items such as a Maine lobster omelet or a surf and turf quiche. There are soups, salads, sandwiches and plenty of entrée choices available during brunch, which is served from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
STAY AND EAT
Planning a special getaway for a loved one? Book an intimate cottage or suite at Stanly Ranch and enjoy a Saturday or Sunday brunch between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. at Bear, the luxury resort’s keystone restaurant. Even if you’re not booking a room, you can still delight in such treats as monkey bread with lemon caramel and pink lady apples or ham and cheese fritters, or try the wild salmon gravlax. For an extra-special breakfast, order the Dungeness crab benedict. Yum!
Located in the heart of the First Street Napa district, the Archer Hotel Napa is another spot for five-star comfort and luxe guest rooms. On Sundays, go up to Sky & Vine Rooftop Bar for amazing panoramic views and savory brunch choices like a bottomless bacon bloody mary, biscuits and chorizo gravy, a scramble bowl or even lobster corn dogs. Brunch is served from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The Sunday brunch at Alba Restaurant at the River Terrance Inn Napa adds a bit of a twist. From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., you can treat yourself to a prosciutto Panini, Belgian waffle or breakfast sandwich, along with a host of delicious sides and perhaps a morning mimosa. The twist is having local musicians performing from noon to 2 p.m. while you enjoy your tasty meal.
Located in the main lobby of the Westin Verasa Napa Hotel in the Oxbow District, Bank Café and Bar sources many of its ingredients from California vendors and farmers. Bank’s brunch menu – featured from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday – includes elevated comfort items such as huevos benedictios, burrito verde, lobster omelet and Nashville-style spicy fried chicken and waffle.
DISHING IT OUT DAILY
Located on First Street in Downtown Napa, JAX White Mule diner and cocktail lounge serves brunch from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily (closed on Tuesdays). You’ll find plenty of classic breakfast items – scrambles, burritos, waffles, steak and eggs, etc. – as well as shareables like white truffle fries and chicken wings, and entrees like burgers and “sandos.”
The global kitchen that is Grace’s Table provides a bevy of comfort brunch items sure to please even the pickiest of eaters, and they do so seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. It’s almost imperative that you start with a cinnamon roll or black cherry/almond scone – or a seasonal fruit plate if you don’t want to be too bad. Follow that with shrimp and grits, pulled pork and egg taco, southwest tamale or any of the other choices that are great at breakfast or lunchtime.
Petit Soleil may not have a menu specifically for brunch, but when you serve breakfast all day, a separate menu just isn’t necessary. If you arrive after 11 a.m., you can choose from the breakfast or lunch menus. Along with a morning mimosa or hot chocolate, there are egg, pancake and French toast dishes, or try a burger, sandwich or salad and make sure to top it off with a scrumptious dessert.
C Casa serves breakfast until 11:30 a.m. all week long, so if you enjoy reimagined breakfast tacos on housemade tortillas, buttermilk waffles, duck confit hash or papas con huevos, you’ll like what you see on their breakfast menu.
ALL DAY LONG
There are times when everyone has a craving for breakfast, even though it’s 3 p.m. and the work day’s almost over. That’s when a place like Loveski, located at the Oxbow Public Market, is the solution. The “Jew-ish” deli features a host of sandwich and soup items, but when the breakfast bug hits, try a bagel with cream cheese or a bagel sandwich with smoked salmon, smashed avocado or a number of other choices.
How does a delicious cup of coffee and breakfast sound any time of the day? Barnhouse Napa Brews – an English coffee pub – thinks it sounds great. Beginning at 7 a.m. and continuing all day long, you can enjoy locally roasted coffee in a variety of amazing flavors, as well as bagel dogs, sausage rolls, cheese and onion pastries and more.
