An added bonus is that some of Napa’s lodging options are offering specials during the summer, which turns a great stay into an awesome stay. And if you’re a California resident, there are discounts that make a staycation even better.

ARCHER HOTEL
California residents can save 10% on Archer Hotel’s best available rate, as well as a $25 drink-and-dine credit. The beautiful boutique hotel features private balconies with many of its rooms. The renowned Charlie Palmer Steak is the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion or just to be pampered, and the Sky & Vine Rooftop Bar provides memorable views. The Napa Valley Welcome Center, which can give you tips about the area, is just a few minutes away.
MERITAGE RESORT & SPA
Luxury is everywhere at the Meritage Resort & Spa, with lavish rooms and amenities too lengthy to list. Among the resort’s packages is the Savor After Hours Getaway, which includes two tickets to a special wine-tasting cabaret, resort credit, a bottle of wine and more. The cabaret – a performance that shows how wine makes you feel through dance, music and illusions – features professional dancers Maks Chmerkovskiy and Valentin Chmerkovskiy. There’s so much to do at the Meritage, you may never leave the resort.
RIVER TERRACE INN
Restaurants, wineries, shopping and local attractions are a short walk from the River Terrace Inn, and who better to take on a walk around Downtown Napa but your family dog. The inn is offering its Napa Paws Package, a Wine Country getaway that includes dog biscuits and a special welcome gift at check-in, a dog bed and bowl for use during the visit and two dog-themed cocktails for the dog’s humans. Oxbow Public Market, the Culinary Institute of America and the Napa Valley Wine Train are just a few of the nearby attractions to check out while you’re here.
NAPA VALLEY MARRIOTT HOTEL & SPA
Guests who stay at the Napa Valley Marriott Hotel & Spa are invited to a welcome reception featuring complimentary wine from a different Napa Valley winery each evening. During the summer, the hotel is offering several seasonal packages, including Suite-n Up Your Summer, which includes 10% off suite upgrades and breakfast for two. When you’re not savoring a relaxing spa treatment or enjoying a delicious meal at the Little Summer restaurant, take a Napa Wineries Tour on a Glide Bike, an electric-drive stand-up cycle. The tour begins and ends at the hotel, so make sure to reserve your place on this fun activity.
MILLIKEN CREEK INN & SPA
If a made-to-order gourmet breakfast in bed – or anywhere on the grounds – sounds inviting, you’ll love a stay at Milliken Creek Inn & Spa. Overlooking the Napa River, the inn features well-appointed guestrooms, a customized wine and cheese pairing and so much more. If you travel this summer, you can receive 10% off the room rate, or 20% off if you stay three nights or more. While you’re here, learn about the history and see the sights of the nearby Napa River in a kayak, or let someone else do the rowing as you enjoy wine and music in a gondola tour.
STANLY RANCH
An ideal family getaway, Stanly Ranch features 78 standalone cottages and suites with one or two bedrooms. Surrounded by the Napa River and pristine vineyards, the historic ranch features private terraces and fire pits where families can relax. This summer, bring your bike and helmet and join a group ride on selected Saturdays through scenic roads and vineyards, led by a local cyclist. After the ride, enjoy breakfast or lunch at the ranch as kids 10 and under eat for free.
WHITE HOUSE
The 17-room White House boutique hotel may be the perfect couples getaway, with its cozy fireplaces, lush gardens and onsite spa treatments. Of course, couples can always spend vacation time with their dogs, and White House has a special package for your pampered pups (up to two 50-pound dogs). The Pawsome Pet Package includes a plush pet bed, a drinking bowl, dog treats and dog walking supplies. With its Downtown Napa location, the hotel is a short distance from wine tasting rooms, restaurants, shops and more.
NAPA RIVER INN
Situated within the Historic Napa Mill in Downtown Napa’s Riverfront District, the highly rated Napa River Inn has 66 rooms, many with fireplaces and balconies. The mill features a variety of gourmet restaurants and specialty shops, making the location perfect for leisurely walks (and pets are welcome to come along, too). A Romance Package comes with complimentary chocolate-dipped strawberries, a bottle of champagne and fresh pastries.
ANDAZ NAPA
A boutique hotel featuring rooms with hardwood floors and comfortable spaces, Andaz Napa is ideally located near the Oxbow Public Market, which houses an excellent variety of establishments with food and wine. However, the hotel’s second-floor Mercantile Terrace offers a farm-to-table menu that’s second to none. Book a Savor the Grapes Getaway Package and you’ll get to enjoy three local wine pours per person each night in your hotel room, a nightly food pairing and complimentary breakfast for two each morning.
WINE TASTINGS
In celebration of its fifth anniversary, Gamling & McDuck is offering complimentary wine tastings throughout the month of June. Focusing on making cabernet franc and chenin blanc, the winery – which says “we take what we do seriously, but not ourselves” – is offering the $35 tasting flight for the “low, low price of smiles and great conversations.”
Outer Space Wines, which includes a wine shop, wine bar and event space, hosts tastings of local wines every day. From 5 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, June 23, enjoy a “Summer Sparklers” tasting consisting of wines from France, Spain, California and “Down Under.” White, rose and pear wines will be featured, and the cost is $20. Every Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. at Outer Space is a “Dog Day Afternoon,” where you can spend time with your pup and enjoy a wine and a snack on the outdoor patio.
Wine Girl is as much about the experience as it is about the wine. It’s an excellent place for holding a birthday celebration or a bachelorette party, and the atmosphere shouts “post me on Instagram!” The wine bar has made June the month of the Pink Girl Rosé, which is described as “strawberries up front with a light spice and cherry cream soda on the palate, ending with a finish of soft rose petals.” During June, Wine Girl is offering $14 glasses and $50 bottles of Pink Girl Rosé.
Many hotels, inns and bed-and-breakfasts offer special deals. Some discounts are available for California residents, while others are geared toward members of the military, AARP or AAA. Seniors may receive reduced rates at various hotels, and the best available rates booked in advance can result in a lower price.
When planning your Downtown Napa vacation, consider booking lodging midweek, which is often a great time to save money. Hotel loyalty programs and special packages are also excellent options.
