Napa Valley Wine Train

The Napa Valley Wine Train is one of the most distinctive Napa restaurants, offering an authentic, memorable experience that echoes the glory days of train travel, with fine dining service, multiple course meals, Napa Valley scenery, and ultimate relaxation aboard exquisitely restored vintage rail cars. This top dining establishment is housed in a museum quality, antique train that runs on 25-miles of track in the heart of the Napa Valley. The train itself has two engines, three kitchens on board and a collection of early 20th century Pullman rail cars faithfully restored with Honduran mahogany paneling, brass accents, etched glass partitions and plush armchairs that evoke the spirit of luxury rail travel in the early 1900s. Take a trip into the luxurious American past and experience an unparalleled memory-making journey.

The Napa Valley Wine Train is a collection of 14 different curated experiences activated in one of 2 different trains, year-round. The refined smaller train features one experience daily, the 6-hour Legacy Experience, where the passengers start the journey as strangers and return to the station best friends.
Our Main Train features all of our other 13 experiences. These experiences are hosted in their own respective train cars and share either our 3-hour lunch or 2.5 hour dinner schedule. Tasting Experiences feature wine included in the experience.

Turn the Pages of Our Story

While the Napa Valley Railroad began operations in 1864, the Wine Train’s story starts in the early ‘80s with Vince DeDomenico. He had the vision of reviving the Napa Valley Railroad and the golden age of travel in Napa with curated antique railcars for a quintessential Napa Valley experience. He created an elegant and luxurious way to travel through Napa’s picturesque scenery and historic vineyards.

It was a route that once took visitors to a spa resort in Calistoga, creating the Napa tourism industry in the process. Today, it takes international guests on a 36-mile round trip, from our train station near Downtown Napa at the Oxbow Commons to St. Helena and back, stopping at celebrated Napa Valley wineries. With every ride it takes, the Wine Train continues to preserve a piece of Napa Valley history and proudly continues railroading traditions that once defined the American landscape.
