Zap Mama at the Blue Note

Blue Note presents Zap Mama on Saturday, Aug 24, at 6:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. Born in the Democratic Republic of Congo and raised in Europe. Zap Mama graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels and continued her studies at the Jazz School of Antwerp, which she did not finish.  To explore the world of oral tradition music, she travels throughout Africa, learning, exchanging and sharing information about healing songs, lullabies and mourning and practicing polyphony with griots (bards), Tuareg women, Dongons, Peulhs, Pygmies, Mangbetus, Zulus and others.
