Syrah from around the world

Compline Wine Shop and Pax Mahle of Pax Wines, are co-hosting a blind tasting of Syrah from the world’s great growing regions on Thursday, March 20, at 6:30 p.m. It will be an informal meet-and-greet with Mahle and a selection of his wines (Gamay, Chenin Blanc, and a GMS-style blend) followed by a seated blind tasting and discussion of eight Syrah wines.  This is not about which wines are the best (although they will ask everyone to rank their top favorites) — it’s about drilling down to what makes Syrah from each of these regions unique.  He’ll pour wines from the Northern Rhône Valley, Australia, California, Washington and South Africa’s Swartland.
