Sushi & Cinema: ”Jiro Dreams of Sushi” Screening, Q&A, and Tribute Dinner at CIA at Copia
The Culinary Institute of America (CIA) at Copia in partnership with The Napa Valley Film Festival (NVFF) presents a screening of “Jiro Dreams of Sushi” and director Q&A as part of the Reel Taste Film Awards. The screening and discussion will honor the sushi legend as he turns 100 and director David Gelb will be presented with the Culinary Documentary Award. There will be two interactive dining experiences directly inspired by the film’s location and cuisine. General admission ticket holders will indulge in sushi and izakaya stations along with sips from sake and whiskey masters in The Atrium. The VIP omakase experience, hosted in the Hestan Teaching Kitchen, will include 3, 10-seat stations where each group will have their own guest chef and sake sommelier.
Director and executive producer David Gelb will participate in a Q&A during the film screening. CIA alumni Chef Keita Tominaga (’14), Chef Peggy Tan (‘14), and Chef Marc Zimmerman (’04) will lead a personalized meal for VIP attendees, creating an intimate omakase experience. Leading the izakaya experience will be Sacramento chefs Billy Ngo of Kru and Craig Takehara of Binchoyaki.
