Robert Gastelum at the Fink

Trumpeter, composer and bandleader Robert Gastelum makes his first performance at The Fink on Thursday, Aug. 8, from 8 to 10 p.m. with a $5 cover. Trumpeter, composer and bandleader Gastelum was born in Vallejo.  He began playing the trumpet in the fifth grade and in sixth grade he joined a jazz combo organized by his teacher.  He got into a youth jazz ensemble in 2002 and was awarded a scholarship to attend the Berklee College of Music in Boston.  He completed a bachelor’s degree in music, then a master’s in music tech from Southern Utah University.
