Pocket Opera Orpheus in the Underworld in live presentation at Jarvis Conservatory
ONE NIGHT ONLY!
Saturday, June 17th
7:00pm
Jarvis Conservatory
Can it be true? Orpheus and his beloved Eurydice are on the outs? She has taken a lover in Pluto, the god of the Underworld, but Public Opinion—ever alert—ensures that all of Olympus stay on their toes. Offenbach’s most thrilling score, featuring the famous Can-Can of the Galop Infernal.
Sonoma’s own Bethanie Baeyen returns to direct Orpheus in the Underworld after her successful debut with Pocket Opera’s 2022 The Grand Duchess of Gerolstein (performed at Jarvis Conservatory June 2022). Frank Johnson (known to Jarvis audiences from It’s a Grand Night for Singing) will music direct and conduct the chamber orchestra. Jarvis music-lovers will be delighted to see violinist Yasushi Ogura in the orchestra pit again, as concertmaster of the “Pocket Philharmonic.”
Saturday, June 17th at 7:00pm. Tickets are $75, Senior Discount $69, Student Discount $29 (with valid ID). Theater Box Office will open at 6:00 pm, and the theater doors will open for General Seating at 6:30 pm. Tickets are available now, online through the Jarvis Conservatory website.
