Vallejo’s Papa Joe and The New Deal come to the Blue Note at 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 13.
It was born of two seasoned musicians, Papa Joe Lucero (guitars and lead vocals) and Ed Rillera (keyboard and vocals), with six to nine players like Elias Lucero on bass guitar and vocals, Dave McClure on drums and John Duarte on percussion. Led by female lead vocalists Lani Parker, Janice Dispo and Selia Lucero, this band leads listeners through tunes from the past 50 years, a musical journey from James Brown to Bruno Mars.
