Etna’s Terre Nere at Compline

Christian Liistro of Mount Etna’s Terre Nere winery will be at Compline Wine Shop for a tasting of six wines on April 30 at 6:30 p.m.  He’ll focus on their best Contrada vineyard on the notorious volcano, which is acting up again: Calderara Sottana. The north-facing site harbors many century-old vines, including almost a hectare dating back at least 140 years. Terre Nere was founded in the early 2000s by Marc de Grazia, one of Etna’s early modern pioneers. Liistro has been sharing the winery’s story for more than 10 years as Terre Nere’s head of global sales and marketing director.  Meet him and taste six Terre Nere wines including Etna Rosso “Prephylloxera” 2022, a rare cluster of vines more than a century old that weren’t devastated by the little louse. Can you tell a difference between it and grafted vines? Tickets are $40 at complinewine.com.
