Papa Joe and The New Deal at the Blue Note

The Blue Note welcomes Vallejo’s Papa Joe and The New Deal on Friday, May 9, at 8 p.m. Papa Joe & The New Deal was born out of a small get-together of two musicians, Papa Joe Lucero (guitars and lead vocals) and Ed Rillera (keyboard and vocals), who in the past had promised each other that they would one day play together.  With a strong rhythm section featuring Elias Lucero on bass guitar and vocals and Dave McClure on drums, the band leads listeners through time with popular tunes from the past 50 years.  Led by their female lead vocalists, Lani Parker, Janice Dispo, Selia Lucero and newcomer Abby Lucero, Papa Joe & The New Deal will take you on a musical journey from James Brown to Bruno Mars with their own twist of funk and soul.
