Saffron Sounds to play at Bookmine
The Saffron Sounds trio will play at Bookmine on Sunday, July 6, at 10 a.m. Saffron Sounds is a Napa-based acoustic instrumental trio playing primarily Celtic music with some surprises thrown in. The trio consists of Peter Sharp on guitar, JoAnn Jex on violin and my daughter Wendy Lindroos on flute. Sharp and Jex have been playing together for 10 years; Lindroos recently joined them. All three members of the trio have participated in ensembles at Porchfest and have also performed at local art galleries, Napa Valley College and other community events.

It’s a Grand Night for Singing at Jarvis
Jarvis Conservatory presents It’s a Grand Night for Singing on Saturday, July 5, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. This month’s program takes you on a chronological journey through art song, opera, musical theatre and contemporary chamber music. Whether you love the elegance of Schubert, the drama of Puccini or the bold sounds of John Zorn, there is something for every musical soul. The lineup of Bay Area talent is joined by collaborative pianist Yvonne Wormer, with soprano Rachel Walter-Steiner (shown) hosting the evening. The other artists are baritone Paul Troppy, soprano Celia Green and tenor Senen Bagos Jr. plus Daniel GianolaNorris on trumpet and Sam Torrisi on clarinet. For the first time, local visual artist Mingtang Fitzpatrick will create original responsive visual artwork to accompany select pieces throughout the evening.

Clementine Darling at Napa Yard
Clementine Darling plays Napa Yard at Oxbow Garden on Friday, July 4, from 5 to 8 p.m. Darling is an Americana folk singer-songwriter from the San Francisco Bay Area’s music scene. Originally from Seattle, Darling busked her way down the West Coast in 2010 and put down roots in Sonoma County. The two locales influenced her debut 11:11 EP and subsequent Live At The Lost Church — a collection with undertones of Seattle ‘90s grunge. In May 2023, Darling released her third independent album, Bootstraps EP, a collection of songs about overcoming, hope and chasing dreams on horseback.
