NVJS presents Warren Wolf and Edward Simon at the Blue Note

The Napa Valley Jazz Society presents vibraphonist Warren Wolf with pianist Edward Simon on Sunday, June 18 at 2 p.m.

Warren Wolf, an NVJS favorite of the past 13 years is returning to kick off the Art of the Duo series-within-a-series. He has chosen as his cohort the celebrated Venezuelan-born pianist Ed Simon, his colleague in the SFJAZZ Collective. Wolf progressed from early training in classical music, through ragtime, and modern jazz. He has applied his talent to multiple instruments, being highly sought as a pianist and as a drummer in his native Baltimore.

Today, Wolf is one of the most influential vibraphonists in the world of jazz. Simon, a native of Venezuela, has made a name for himself over decades in America as a jazz improviser, composer-arranger, and band leader. Now based in the San Francisco Bay Area, he is on the faculties of the SF Conservatory of Music and the California Jazz Conservatory and is resident artist at the Brubeck Institute.

Simon, a Yamaha artist, has recorded 15 albums as a leader or co-leader.

Doors open at 1 p.m.

Tickets are $50 only from the Napa Valley Jazz Society at nvjs.org.
