Napa Valley Jazz Society presents Sullivan Fortner Trio at Blue Note
The Napa Valley Jazz Society will present the Sullivan Fortner Trio on Thursday, Feb. 22, at 7 p.m., at the Blue Note in Napa. This limited tour is underwritten by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. Fortner will be performing with his regular New York-based trio mates, Tyrone Allen on bass and Kayvon Gordon on drums. Fortner has been lauded as one of the top jazz pianists of his generation. His virtuosic technique has won him international praise. His music embodies the essence of the blues and jazz across all eras. He has performed at prestigious cultural centers, jazz clubs and festivals around the world. He has received many awards and honors, including a Grammy, and selections as the DownBeat Critics Poll #1 Rising Star Piano and #1 Rising Star Jazz Artist.
