Napa Earth Day Celebration

Celebrate Earth Day in Oxbow Commons on Sunday, April 23, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This event brings the community together to learn about our local environment, alternative energy, supporting local agriculture, watershed health, pollution prevention, conservation, local stewardship opportunities and much more. Hands-on educational activities, crafts, games, live music and dancers will keep the family entertained.

In addition to live music, activities, and exhibitors, there will be food, beer and wine. All proceeds from beverage sales at Earth Day fund the field trip bus grant program run by the Environmental Education Coalition of Napa County (EECNC), the event host. EECNC funds field trips for Napa County students to visit sites such as Skyline Park, Connolly Ranch, Carolyn Parr Nature Center and Bothe State Park where they can gain an appreciation of the local environment.

Proceeds from beverage sales also support the Darcy Aston Environmental Advocacy Scholarship, which is awarded to a local high school student planning to pursue a career in the environmental sciences.

32  Attendees are urged to bring their own reusable bottle for the “water bar” filling station or buy one of the drinks for sale at the event: Napa Green Certified wine, Henhouse Brewing Company, Lagunitas Brewing Company, Mare Island Brewing Company and Marin Kombucha will be available for $6.

And in the spirit of Earth Day, ride your bike and enjoy free bike valet service from the Napa County Bicycle Coalition. Dogs are welcome but must be leashed.

See www.EarthDayNapa.com for more information.

Want to lend a hand for the Earth before the Earth Day festival?  Take part in the Earth Day Cleanup.

Throw on some gloves, grab a bucket and join the Napa County Resource Conservation District at several sites throughout downtown Napa and beyond to pick up litter from our creeks and river.

The cleanup runs from 9 to 11 a.m.

Visit www.naparcd.org for more information.
