Marion Meadows and Brian Simpson at the Blue Note

Marion Meadows and Brian Simpson appear at the Blue Note on Friday, April 14, at 6:30 and 9:30 p.m.

Marion Meadows was born in West Virginia and grew up in Connecticut. He began playing the clarinet and studying classical music at the age of 9. He played tenor sax in high school and then migrated to soprano sax. His interest in various types of music led him down an eclectic musical path, and he became a staple of the contemporary jazz format with his subsequent recordings. After graduating from Northern Illinois University, keyboardist and composer Brian Simpson relocated to Los Angeles where he was soon playing alongside Gerald Albright and Norman Brown and eventually went on a world tour with Janet Jackson. He has writing and performing credits on R&B chart-topping albums and Smooth Jazz Airplay charts and is the music director of many jazz events.

Tickets are $35 to $65. Blue Note, 1030 Main St., Napa, www.bluenotenapa.com
