Kellie Fuller and Mike Greensill present A Night at the Dream Bowl: 1940s
Kellie Fuller and Mike Greensill present “A Night at the Dream Bowl” at the Blue Note on Thursday, Oct. 10, at 7 p.m. It will be a trip back to the 1940s with a live seven-piece band and Fuller on vocals performing the greatest hits from that era. The Dream Bowl was an iconic ballroom south of Napa on the Napa/Vallejo Highway that opened in 1941. It hosted the biggest bands of the era including Benny Goodman, Glen Miller, Duke Ellington, John Coltrane, Count Basie and Tommy Dorsey. The Dream Bowl closed in 1969, but the building still stands in southern Napa County. Hosted by KVYN morning show host Barry Martin, the evening will begin with a brief interview with Michael Amen, author of The Dream Bowl: Where Goodman, Ellington and the Grateful Dead Convene to learn about the history of the iconic dance club. Tickets cost $20 to $45. Blue Note, at 1030 Main St., Napa, www.bluenotejazz.com/napa
