It’s a Grand Night for Singing at Jarvis
It’s a Grand Night for Singing at Jarvis includes full Puccini opera It’s a Grand Night for Singing at Jarvis Conservatory on Saturday, April 6 will continue its tradition of innovation when music director and host Frank Johnson presents a program that includes an entire Puccini opera, albeit a short one. A group of singers from the Santa Cruz area will present Suor Angelica, a one-act sentimental tragedy from late in Puccini’s career. This production is under the direction of Jordan Best, who will also sing the title role. A faculty member of Cabrillo College, she has proven to the Jarvis audience in two prior appearances that she is a versatile, powerful performer in dramatic and comedic material. Joining her in the opera will be Lizz Hodgin Weihrauch, Natalie Erskine, Elyse Coty, Sheri Hammerstrom, Isabella Steigman and Laney Correa. These talented singers will also offer a program of songs and arias by Mozart, Rossini, Gounod, Puccini and Richard Strauss from musical theater and more. Accordionist Sheri Mignano Crawford will play and free refreshments will be served at intermission. Tickets are $20 at the box office beginning at 6 p.m., with doors opening for seating at 6:30 p.m. or you can buy tickets early here.
