Feelings on display for ‘It’s a Grand Night for Singing!’ at Jarvis

“It’s a Grand Night for Singing” on Saturday, Nov. 2, at Jarvis Conservatory will be packed with emotion, from anger to joy, determination to trepidation. “Friendship,” a famous duet by Cole Porter used in two musicals, will be performed by Tricia Callero and Katherine Feller. Along with Sarah Szeibel, these three singers will present a program of opera and operetta, art song and musical theater certain to entertain. Szeibel will perform “So anch’io la virtù magica” from Donizetti’s Don Pasquale and a double aria, “No Word from Tom/I Go to Him,” from Stravinsky’s The Rake’s Progress.  Turning to musical theater, she will offer “Times Like This” from the award-winning show Lucky Stiff and “Defying Gravity” from Stephen Schwartz’s musical Wicked. Kat Feller will also perform the famous number “Popular” from Wicked, and she and Szeibel will celebrate the value of true friendship with the final duet, “For Good.”  Feller will rampage as the enraged Queen of the Night with “Der Hölle Rache” from Mozart’s The Magic Flute and sing Gabriel Fauré’s song “Après un rêve.” Callero will sing two favorite numbers in Viennese operetta: Adele’s Laughing Song, “Mein Herr Marquis” from Die Fledermaus and “Vilja” from The Merry Widow. From the 1960 musical Oliver! she will sing “As Long as He Needs Me” and “Oom-Pah-Pah.” Host and musical director Frank Johnson will be the guide for these emotional journeys.  Accordionist Sheri Mignano Crawford will play, and complimentary snacks and wine will be offered at intermission.  Tickets are $20. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the concert begins at 7 p.m. Jarvis Conservatory, 1711 Main St., Napa, www.jarvisconservatory.com, 707-255-5445
