Hawaiian music star Faith Ako comes to the Blue Note on Sunday, Jan. 29, at 3 p.m. Faith Ako has graced the stages of Northern California, Osaka, Japan, Martha’s Vineyard and her home state of Hawai’i for the last three decades. The late mayor Ed Lee’s San Francisco Citizen Award recognized her for leadership and understanding and appreciation for multiculturalism and diversity in the greater Bay Area. Her recent awards include a Nā Hōkū Hanohano nominee for Traditional Hawaiian Album of The Year and Polynesian Heritage Awards Entertainer of The Year nominee. Her charisma, sultry tones and local girl style of “aloha” will welcome you back to the islands without ever getting on a plane.
