Con Funk Shun at the Blue Note

The Blue Note presents Con Funk Shun on Friday, April 5, and Saturday, April 6, at 6:30 and 9 p.m. Con Funk Shun is an American R&B and funk band from Vallejo formed in 1969. They were influenced by funk progenitors James Brown and Sly and the Family Stone. Signed to Mercury Records in 1976, the band made successful national and overseas tours, and recorded 11 albums and a number of hit singles. The group formally disbanded in 1986 but then regrouped. Con Funk Shun’s current lineup includes three original members, Michael Cooper, Felton Pilate and Karl Fuller, as well as Kurt “KC” Clayton, Ron Moton, Aaron Green, Rene Escovedo and Brian LaTour.
