Join us for a special screening of CAN’T LOOK AWAY: The Case Against Social Media — a gripping and urgent documentary exposing the dark side of social media and its devastating impact on young users. Hosted by the Michael Leonardi Foundation in partnership with the Jarvis Conservatory.

Through powerful stories and revealing insights, CAN’T LOOK AWAY uncovers how dangerous algorithms are fueling a crisis in youth mental health — and why reform is more critical than ever. As technology continues to shape our lives, the film shines a light on the hidden costs of our connected world, revealing how these platforms exploit attention, amplify harm, and endanger the next generation.

Equal parts exposé and call to action, CAN’T LOOK AWAY challenges us to rethink our relationship with social media — and reminds us that change begins when we finally choose to look closer.

Film Synopsis
Can’t Look Away is a gripping documentary that exposes the dark side of social media and its devastating impact on young people. Directors Matthew O’Neill and Perri Peltz take viewers inside the high-stakes legal battle to hold tech companies accountable for the harm caused by their negligence and dangerous algorithms. Based on investigative reporting by Bloomberg News’ Olivia Carville, the film follows the Social Media Victims Law Center fighting for justice for families whose children suffered tragic consequences linked to social media use. As families seek justice, Can’t Look Away underscored the urgent need for industry reform and serves as both a wake-up call about the dangers of social media– and a call to action to protect future generations.
