“Brand New Shoes” – Napa Historical Society
We are excited to partner with Napa Valley Distillery and Tia Madison to present a performance of Madison’s award winning play, “Brand New Shoes,” on Wednesday, February 21st. Tia Madison’s performance through poetry, song, and dance, journals a young woman’s search toward identity through the histories of influential African American women.
This one-woman show explores the lives of women such as Maya Angelou, Rosa Parks, Mary McLeod Bethune, Marian Anderson, Oprah Winfrey, Michelle Obama, Katherine Dunham, and Dorothy Dandridge. This is an inspirational drama that journeys through these women’s accomplishments and failures to find one woman’s true identity.
Dr. Tia Madison is a Professor of Language and Developmental Studies at Napa Valley College.
Tickets are $30 for NCHS Members and $35 General Admission. Special price for students is $15.
