It’s a Grand Night for Singing: Jarvis Conservatory presents its monthly concert, It’s a Grand Night for Singing, at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7. Frank Johnson, completing his third year as music director and host of It’s a Grand Night for Singing at Napa’s Jarvis Conservatory, has a reputation for producing and performing musical events overflowing with artistry and variety. This concert will cap a remarkable 2024 series that has involved almost 150 solo, chamber and choral singers, and over a dozen guest musicians. Audiences have enjoyed arias and songs from ancient to modern, from opera to musical theater to songbook standards, choral masterpieces, and a full one-act Puccini opera. The Dec. 7 concert will bring together sopranos Gabrielle Goozée-Nichols and Heidi Moss Erickson, baritone Chris Nichols, flutist Diane Grubbe and cellist Angela Lee for a program of wide range and great interest. A centerpiece of the event will be a performance of Maurice Ravel’s Chansons Madécasses for baritone, flute, cello and piano. Duets will include a passionate love scene from Pagliacci and a wistful, longing number from The Secret Garden. Arias from Gian-Carlo Menotti and Aaron Copland, Handel’s Messiah, and art songs by Fauré, Schubert and Poulenc will be featured. An exotic treat will be award-winning cellist Angela Lee’s performance of Soviet Georgian composer Sulkhan Tsintsadze’s virtuosic Five Pieces for Violoncello & Piano. This special evening would not be complete without pre-concert entertainment by accordionist Sheri Mignano Crawford and wine and food at intermission. Tickets are $20 online or at the box office beginning at 6 p.m. Jarvis Conservatory, 1711 Main St., Napa, jarvisconservatory.com, 707-255-5445
