Loire Valley Walkaround Tasting

Compline Wine Shop hosts a walkaround tasting of Loire Valley wines on Thursday, Aug. 28, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The Loire is France’s longest river, and its banks and tributaries are home to many villages, grapes and appellations. If you don’t know your Sancerre from your Jasnières, this tasting is for you. They’re pouring eight red, rosé and white wines, covering the principal varieties — Chenin Blanc, Cabernet Franc, Melon de Bourgogne, Sauvignon Blanc — and more, while touring the Loire Valley from the Atlantic Coast to the center of France. Some are heavyweights, including Dagueneau and Huët.  Tickets cost $40 at complinewine.com.  Compline Wine Shop, 1300 First St. #319, Napa
