Salsa Nights at Napa’s Bistro Sabor

What:As the clock strikes 10 p.m. on a Saturday night, the staff of this urban-hip little Latin American eatery in downtown Napa begins to push the dozen or so dining tables out onto the patio. The music, already energetic, amps up louder, thumping with vigorous salsa, merengue, cumbia, bachata and reggaeton numbers. Within a few minutes, the concrete floor of the restaurant has turned into a mini dance club, and patrons are spinning and swirling to the infectious beat. It might be a bit surprising to see such liveliness on the normally sleepy corner of Main and First streets, but Bistro ownerAriel Cejais young, creative, and as full of fire as the spicy street-style food he serves here during theday.

Who's there:A primarily youthful, eclectic crowd gets their fancy footwork on, socializing and sipping micheladas or wine-based cocktails until 1:30 a.m. But plan to come even if you've never heard of bachata – Bistro staff will happily show you the steps to this dance of the Dominican Republic, and everyone is welcome in the no-cover chargeparty.

Details:Salsa Saturday Nights, every Saturday, 10 p.m.-1:30 a.m. 1126 First St., Napa. (707) 252-0555.
