Adam Schneider has a distinctive way of making his mark in the retail wine business. And for tasting room customers throughout the Napa Valley, that “mark” can instantly make a wine bottle just as special as the vintage it contains.

Schneider’s company, Say It On Wine, uses new engraving technology to quickly engrave custom designs or messages on wine bottles, glasses and other glass items. After founding the company a year ago, Schneider regularly brings his service to various Napa Valley tasting rooms where he will custom engrave wine purchases while the customer waits.

Say It On Wine, he said, uses a computer-controlled laser that can quickly engrave a bottle without harming the wine inside.

“One of the benefits is that we can work with the wine already in the bottle,” Schneider explained. “Most people don’t know that sandblasting engraving, which is different from what we do, creates too much heat and, therefore, can’t be done with the wine in the bottle. That process also takes days, where our process takes five to 10 minutes … while the customer waits.” Read more…
