Cole’s, Celadon Host Toy Drive

This holiday season, downtown Napa restaurants Cole's Chop House and Celadon are hosting a gift card and toy drive to benefit the Lucile Packard Children's Hospital in Palo Alto.

Owner Greg Cole explains, “We are partnering with LPCH in honor of Itzel Mendez, the 8-year-old daughter of Cole's Chop House chef de cuisine Jesus Mendez. Itzel is a two-time leukemia survivor and continues to receive her care at LPCH. We are grateful for the care she receives there.”

Through Dec. 23 at Celadon, corkage, normally $15, will be waived for each gift card or toy donation of at least $15 in value. At Cole's Chop House, the $25 corkage fee will be waived for each gift card or toy donation of $25 value.

Gift cards are in greatest demand and are used for personalized gifts for older children.

“Jesus has been an important part of our team for more than 12 years,” Cole said. “He has helped us create a thriving restaurant and we are honored to be able to help in this small way.

“With three young children, Jesus' family has faced challenges and heartbreak that most of us can't begin to imagine. In the past years, our wonderful customers have brought in armfuls of toys and gift cards, for nothing in exchange at times.”
