Get Your Film Fix at the Second Annual Napa Valley Film Festival

The Second Annual Napa Valley Film Festival is almost here! This November 7-11, you can be a part of one of the best film, food and wine festivals all year long.

Here are some of the reasons you shouldn’t miss out:

Over 12 screening venues
100 films
250 filmmakers
125 wineries
30 restaurants and top chefs

And that’s just a sample of all the entertainment this film festival has to offer.

The Festival will kick off with the world premiere of the documentary SOMM on November 7.  SOMM is short for “sommelier;” the film follows the journey of four young men as they try to pass the sommelier exam, which has one of the lowest pass rates in the world.

You can enter the Are You the Next Sommelier? contest on the Downtown Napa Facebook page. One winner will receive two Festival passes and the chance to attend a screening of the SOMM Documentary Film.

If you’re in the mood for contests, check out the Movies to Dine For contest being curated by the Napa Valley Film Festival.  Here are the details for the contest:

How to Participate:
They are looking for chefs to create movie-inspired dishes and/or cocktails to serve during the extended five-day weekend of the Festival.

If you would like to submit an entry, please send the name of your dish and a brief menu description. For example:

Butch Calamari and the Sundance Shrimp: crispy rock shrimp and calamari with fennel, caper berries, green beans and citrus aioli. Fritto Misto. With an attitude.

They will award three prizes:
1. Master Foodspotter
• Awarded to the contestant who “spots” the most menu items during the five days of the festival (November 7-11).
2. Crowd Favorite
• Awarded to the restaurant whose entry has been spotted the most during the festival.
• Winning restaurant will receive two 2013 Festival Passes (designated for restaurant staff use).
3. Best Menu Item
• Awarded to the chef with the best presentation as voted on by the Foodspotting Jury.
• Winning chef will receive a large format bottle of Napa Valley wine from an acclaimed NVFF winery partner.
